Councilor John Wedlake was elected to his first term in January 2017, and re-elected for his second term in February 2020.
John is a Stillwater native and graduated from Stillwater High School in 1998. Following graduation, he volunteered with the United States Army, serving a three-year tour as an airborne paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. He was awarded an honorable discharge in 2001.
John went on to earn a bachelor's degree in microbiology/bacteriology from Oklahoma State University and was awarded the outstanding senior award in science. He received his medical doctoral degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine, where he was recognized as the outstanding student of endocrinology/neuroendocrinology in his graduating class. He continued his post-doctoral specialty training in neurology at OU, and served as chief resident of the neurology department in his final year of residency.
Following the completion of his residency training, John decided to return to Stillwater with business partner Dr. David McCoy to open a neurology practice to further serve the Stillwater and surrounding communities.
In his spare time, John enjoys spending time with his wife Jamie and their daughters Kallie and Kinley, golfing, being outdoors, reading and having family movie nights. He also has a keen passion for all things neurology and enjoys educating and helping people with neurological diseases.
John serves on the following City Council committees: OSU Student Government Association Liaison
