SFD Administration Office

The Administration Office serves as the Stillwater Fire Department's headquarters from which primary coordination and oversight of all programs and services occurs. The department, which is comprised of Fire Suppression, Emergency Medical, Hazardous Materials and Fire Prevention Division, is overseen by the fire chief.

Chief Tom Bradley

Chief Bradley has been the fire chief since 2011 and has been with the Stillwater Fire Department since 1984. Over the years, he has served as a firefighter, lieutenant, deputy fire marshal and captain, assistant chief and interim fire chief. He has received extensive training from the National Fire Academy, Oklahoma State University and the U.S. Army. He is a certified law enforcement officer by the Council on Law Enforcement and Education Training (CLEET).

Assistant Fire Chief Jory Stanley

Jory Stanley started at the Stillwater Fire Department on November 22, 1995, he promoted to Driver by 1998, and Medical Officer in 2003. He was then promoted to Chief of Training in 2015.

While working at SFD, Jory also worked for Tulsa LifeFlight and Eaglemed air ambulance service for 7 years.

While not at work Jory, spends time with his wife, July, and their two kids, Graysen and Taylor. He also enjoys playing softball and really any other sport in season.

Fire Marshal Steve Sylvester

The Fire Marshal's Office leads the Fire Prevention Division.

Fire Marshall Steve Sylvester

Fire Marshal Steve Sylvester started with Stillwater Fire Department in 1992 and was promoted to lieutenant in 2006. He graduated from Perkins-Tryon High School and attended Northeastern State University. He also attended the National Fire Academy’s Command and Control for multi-alarm incidents and trained for situations including confined space, trench rescue, swift water rescue, ropes, fire service training inspections, auto extrication and instructor duties. He is a member of the Stillwater Firefighters Local 2095 and the International Firefighters Association.

Deputy Fire Marshall Thomas Tharp

Deputy Fire Marshall Thomas Tharp

Thomas Tharp is the Chief of Training for Stillwater Fire Department. Tharp has enjoyed serving the City of Stillwater and the surrounding community as a firefighter since July 2, 1998. Prior to beginning his career with Stillwater Fire, Tharp completed his bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics from Oklahoma State University. Promoting his way from firefighter to Driver/Operator of Engine, to Fire Lieutenant, and then on October 13, 2016 promoting to his current position, Chief of Training. Some accomplishments while on the department include honor guard commander, IFSAC certification in inspections, hazardous materials technician, and board member of the OKPERI organization.

In 2011, Tharp was awarded the Stillwater Firefighter/EMT of the year. He has attended the National Fire Academy in Maryland multiple times, attending classes that include public education, command/control, and fire investigation. Some duties with his current position include organizing and implementing training for the department, assisting with fire investigation, serving as safety officer for the department, and assisting command with incidents.

The Training Division is supported by instructors specializing in fire services, EMS services, fitness, handling/storage of hazardous materials, and special operations rescue.
