What We're Doing

The City of Stillwater and the Stillwater Utilities Authority will be acquiring a new generator for the Water Treatment Plant (WTP). This generator will power the WTP during periods of electrical outages.


Anticipated Milestones

  • Anticipated Date (Design): Design completed June 2019
  • Anticipated Date (Construction): April 2020
  • Anticipated Date (Completion): February 2021
    • Crossland Heavy Contractors has been delayed by approximately one month due to Covid-19 related supplier delays.

Benefits of the Project

A new generator will provide back-up power during an electrical outage and will increase the reliability of the WTP.


Budget & Funding

  • Year Funded: FY2019
  • Funding Source: 1) Water Fund and 2) The City was awarded a grant from the Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management (OEM) through FEMA, which will reimburse up to 75% of project design and construction costs.
  • Project Budget: $3.6M
  • Expenditures to date: $2.2M

Project Management


Updates

February 7, 2017: Black and Veatch hired to provide conceptual design services.

November 8, 2018: The OEM/FEMA grant application was submitted.

December 11, 2018: Conducted the 65% Design Workshop with the Project Team.

January 16, 2019: The Project Team responded to two Requests for Information from OEM/FEMA to support the grant application.

June 17, 2019: OEM/FEMA has awarded a grant to the City of Stillwater to fund 75%, with an upper limit of about $3.3 Million, of the Generator Project. Project design is complete and regulatory permitting is underway. 

September 15, 2019: The project was advertised for contractor bids. The bid opening will occur on October 30, 2019.

November 18, 2019: SUA awarded construction contract to Crossland Heavy Contractors.

January 22, 2020: Pre construction meeting has been held and mobilization is expected to begin April 2020.

April 23, 2020: The Contractor mobilized on March 16 to initiate construction activities. The submittal process is ongoing. Demolition has occurred and electrical conduit installation is in progress. 

June 26, 2020: Sitework, foundations and electrical duct bank is work progressing. 

July 29, 2020: Foundation for the generator is complete and sitework is progressing. 

September 17, 2020: Sitework, equipment foundations and duct bank installations are complete. Yard lights have also been installed and are now operational. 

January 13, 2021: The generator, switchgear, and transformers have been set in place. Tie-ins and testing are underway.
