City Council Election Scheduled, Filing Period Begins Dec. 5

Released:Nov 29, 2022

(Stillwater, OK) — The Stillwater City Council has approved a resolution setting an election date for City Council seats 1 and 2. The general election will be held Feb. 14, 2023 and, if necessary, a runoff election will be held April 4.

If more than two candidates file for an office and no candidate receives more than 50 percent of the vote in the general election, the two candidates with the most votes advance to a runoff.

A runoff election could be triggered for one or both seats, depending on the number of candidates. A runoff election is not always necessary.

Candidates for both offices will file at the Payne County Election Board 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Dec. 5-7.

Seat 1 is held by Councilor Amy Dzialowski, who was appointed to complete a partial term in May 2018 and elected to a full term in 2019.

Seat 2 is held by Vice Mayor Alane Zannotti, who was appointed to complete a partial term in May 2015 and elected to a three-year term in December 2015. She was elected to a four-year term in 2019 and named vice mayor in 2021.
