Stillwater Kicks Off Drinking Water Week

Released:Apr 29, 2022

(STILLWATER, OK) – City of Stillwater celebrates national Drinking Water Week, May 1-7, by recognizing the vital role tap water plays in daily life, the infrastructure that is required to carry it to and from homes and businesses, and the critical work that water professionals accomplish around the clock to ensure the delivery of quality tap water.

“We utilize this week as an opportunity to remind our community members of the vital role safe drinking water plays in our everyday lives. I appreciate the great work our City’s water professionals do for all of us each and every day. We have less than 70 in our Water Utilities Dept. who take care of treatment, distribution, and wastewater collection efforts,” said City Manager Norman McNickle.

To commemorate the week, water utilities, water organizations, government entities, environmental advocates, schools and others are encouraging consumers to learn more about the importance of water services and water infrastructure, especially in times of crisis.

For several decades, American Water Works Association and its members have celebrated Drinking Water Week. Free materials for download and additional information about Drinking Water Week are available on the Drinking Water Week webpage at
