(STILLWATER, OKLAHOMA / April 21, 2021) – If the streets of Stillwater look a little less littered, it’s because volunteers for the City of Stillwater Annual Trash-Off event hit the streets armed with trash bags to pick up trash on Saturday, April 10. This year's event had 49 participants who picked up a total of 60 bags of trash. The participants started at the Couch Park pavilion at 9 a.m., where they received safety vests, gloves and assigned areas to go pick up trash.

The Trash-Off trophy was awarded to the Oklahoma State University Psychology Graduate Students group for picking up the most bags of trash, 11. The group cleaned litter up at the road underpass on Hall of Fame. The trophy will be on display at City Hall, 723 S. Lewis St.

The City of Stillwater began sponsoring the Trash-Off 15 years ago in order to keep trash from entering waterways. “This year’s event had a good turnout considering the rain the day prior and the cold to start the day,” Environmental Programs Manager and coordinator of the annual event Chris Franks said. “I would like to send a heartfelt thank you to the volunteers who donated their time to make Stillwater a cleaner place.”
