(STILLWATER, OKLAHOMA / Nov. 13, 2017) – The City of Stillwater encourages our residential waste management customers to use their City-issued glass recycle totes for monthly collection.

A City-issued tote has a blue body with an engraved code and a yellow lid. The City uses this code to identify the tote to its residence.

“Using our approved totes with the yellow lids makes it easier for our team to better spot the totes on pickup day, making the whole recycling process easier for everyone,” Waste Management Supervisor Matt Faulkner said.

In the beginning stages of the curbside glass recycling program, the City let customers use their own boxes for glass recycling. The City now asks customers to use a City-issued tote to minimize confusion and ensure regular pickup.

There is no extra fee to request a glass recycle tote because it is already included in your monthly recycle charge. The City will deliver the tote to your residence free of charge as well.

“We will also leave notes on customers’ personal boxes or containers they are currently using for glass recycling when we see them to remind them to request their free recycle tote from the City,” Faulkner said.

Curbside glass recycling is available for residential waste management customers within city limits only.

To request a tote, contact Customer Service via the following ways:

  • Call at 405.742.8245
  • Email at customerservice@stillwater.org
  • Visit the Stillwater Municipal Building, 723 S. Lewis St., Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Crews will pick up your glass recycling on your first regular collection day of each month, even if it is a City-observed holiday.

Totes should be placed at the curb before 6 a.m. and five feet from other carts or obstacles to ensure pickup.

Glass items accepted include food and beverage bottles, drinking glasses, vases and cookware without metal pieces in any color. Recyclable glass must be cleaned out before placed in totes.
