Stillwater Police reminds business, property owners to renew or apply for burglar/fire alarm permits

(STILLWATER, OKLAHOMA / Dec.13, 2016) — The Stillwater Police Department would like to remind property and business owners to renew their alarm permits or to register new alarms between now and Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2017.
 
There is a $6 annual fee for each alarm registered, and late fee of $25 will be assessed for alarms registered March 1 or later.
 
City ordinance requires alarm permits for all monitored burglar and fire alarms. Payment of cash or credit will need to be made in person at Police Records at 701 S. Lewis St., or mail checks to the Stillwater Police Department, c/o Alarm Administrator, P.O. Box 1725, Stillwater, Oklahoma 74076.
 
“Registered alarms help public safety officials within the Stillwater Fire and Police departments communicate more effectively with property and business owners to ensure security,” Code Enforcement Officer James Moore said.
 
Moore also said permit holders should be aware of possible alarm malfunctions that could send false alarms to police or fire officials. Three or more false alarms within a month or six in a calendar year could result in a fine.
 
Residents can pick up the registration form at the Stillwater Police Department or download it from the Document Center at http://stillwater.org/document-center/detail/id/68.
