The Stillwater Tree Voucher Program
Street Tree Vouchers
What is it?
It is a $50 voucher that is redeemable at three of the local nurseries in town for one
tree of a suitable species for Stillwater.
How do I get it?
The voucher program is done twice a year (once in the Spring and once in the Fall). An
announcement is usually made in the Stillwater Newspress to announce the beginning of the
program. Names of people interested in recieving a voucher are taken.
The vouchers are given out on a "first come first serve basis" until the money allocated to this program is exhausted. After all names are taken, each person's house is evaluted by the Forestry Coordinator or Stillwater Tree Board member to see if they have an available planting space in their FRONT yard. Front yards are chosen because the Tree Board believes that these trees will benefit the community more than back yard trees.
What are the criteria for recieving a tree?

The Utility Line Replacement Vouchers
The removal and trimming of utility line conflict areas in Stillwater is an absolute must
to keep our electricity on and running smoothly. The Tree Board recognizes this fact and
has developed a program to replace trees that must be removed under the lines. The Tree
Board will replace each significant tree (i.e. greater than 4 inches diameter at 4.5 ft
off the ground) with a tree worth up to $50. Limits for each resident are no more than 5
vouchers per household, and replacement limitations are completely at the discretion of
the Stillwater Tree Board and Forestry Coordinator. Species are limited to the ones
included on the Stillwater Guide to Selected Trees and planting
spaces will be determined based on the criteria used in the Street Tree Replacement
Program (detailed above).
