Stillwater Neighborwoods FAQ
Questions about the program? You might find the answers below
Question: Can I move where the tree
should go after I receive it?
Answer: Yes, as long as the tree is
at least 5 feet away from an underground utility line and is at least 10 feet away from
any paved surface (curb, driveway), is within the Right Of Way in front of your house (Not
near your house, in your backyard or someone else's yard), and is at least 30 feet away
from the trunk of any other large tree. If you have any questions about the tree location
please contact Carrie Tomlinson at
(405)-742-8342.
Question: Can I pick a tree species
other than the ones listed on the doorknocker?
Answer: Currently no. These trees
were picked because of their good street tree characteristics and their availability in 5
gal. containers. Any questions or comments concerning other possible tree selections can
be directed toward Carrie Tomlinson,
Forestry Coordinator for the City of Stillwater at (405)-742-8342.
Question: How big will these trees
be?
Answer: The trees will come in 5
gallon containers. The trees will be between 7 and 9 feet tall and are worth approximately
$25.00-$30.00 each (these are not cheap trees!)
Question: What if my tree dies?
Answer: We give you a free tree with
the understanding that you will do your best to take care of it for at least 2 years. We
do, however, expect a small percentage of these trees not to make it. If your tree dies
within two years call the City of Stillwater
Forestry Coordinator at (405)-742-8342. We may be able to replace your free tree if
the trees death is not due to lack of care.
