PURPOSE OF REPORT:
Award bid for annual contract for water and sewer line material and installation.
BACKGROUND:
The City of Stillwater awards annual bids for water and sewer line installation and materials only. These bids are used for the repair, replacement, and extension of water and sewer lines.
REPORT:
On April 8th and 15th, 1999, specifications for these annual bids were advertised in the Stillwater News Press and mailed to 12 suppliers and 7 contractors throughout the state and surrounding states. Specifications and bid packets were also sent to the construction newspapers (such as Dodge Report and Southwest Construction News). Bids were received until May 5, 1999, at which time seven (7) proposals for materials and two(2) proposals for installation were received and opened in the City Commission conference room at 3:00 p.m.
All proposals were evaluated and determined to have met or exceeded the bid requirements.
ALTERNATIVES:
RECOMMENDATION:
In order to maintain flexibility in obtaining the needed materials and services, staff is recommending alternative #2. This alternative will allow staff an alternate service and material supplier in the event the 1st low bidder(s) is not available.
