Sister Cities Council Member
Nancy Simpson

Nancy Simpson Nancy recently retired from teaching in Stillwater for the past 23 years. She has taught a variety of ages and populations. Travel, storytelling, crafts, church activities, and more fill Nancy's time now.

Since her son Matt went to Kameoka on the first school exchange, Nancy has wanted to go too. In June 1996 she had that opportunity along with 9 other teachers/ PTA representatives. The trip was so enjoyable that the next summer she took a Japanese Literature course through OSU which met in Kameoka for three weeks.

Nancy's interest in Japan and things Japanese has led her to host many Japanese guests in her home through the years. Her most famous guest has been Japanese Storytelller, Hiroko Fujita, who is well known to many children, parents, and young adults through her annual visits and who was proclaimed by Mayor Roger McMillian as "Stillwater's Storyteller Extraordinaire." Nancy was appointed to the Sister Cities Council in 2008 and is committed to promoting world-wide peace and good will through the Sister Cities program.
